The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office reported that two people who were found dead inside a Miller residence on the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 28, were killed in a murder-suicide. The deceased were identified as Kaleb Kingsley, 55, of Miller and Linda Kennedy, 43, of Chetopa, Kan.
According to a press release sent out by the LCSO on Thursday, Dec. 1, an autopsy determined that Kingsley was killed with a single gunshot wound to his head while he slept. Kennedy then apparently turned the gun on herself. The press release did not indicate when the murder-suicide took place, or what the motive was for the killings.
The LCSO said they expected to conclude the investigation within the next couple of days after the press release was distributed and stated that there is no threat to the community related to this incident.
The death of Kingsley is the latest tragedy to befall the Kingsley family. Kingsley’s son, Kaleb Kingsley, Jr., 16, was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Wednesday, Aug. 10, when a tractor-trailer he was driving overturned on Highway UU just north of Phelps
