Jalen Hurts repeats as NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

Hurts had been the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12 after he broke the franchise single-game record for rushing yards by a quarterback with the fourth-highest total in a regular-season contest in league history and became the first NFL player since at least 1950 with 150 rushing and 150 passing yards in the same game during the Eagles’ 40-33 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 27.

The former Alabama quarterback won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week Award for Week 13 by throwing for 380 yards and three touchdowns and running for another score in Philadelphia’s 35-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Hurts became the 26th player in NFL history and first for Philadelphia with at least 380 yards, three touchdown passes and one TD run in the same game.

Hurts is the first Philadelphia player to receive Player of the Week recognition in consecutive weeks and the second in the NFL to do so this season. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Weeks 5 and 6.

The other award winners for Week 13 of the 2022 season were Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, AFC Offensive; San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, NFC Defensive; Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones, AFC Defensive; Detroit Lions kicker Michael Badgley, NFC Special Teams; and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, AFC Special Teams.

Ten other players with Alabama football roots have won a Player of the Week award this season. Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (Alabama) was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2, Denver Broncos punter Corliss Waitman (South Alabama) was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 3, Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson (Fort Payne) was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 4, New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (Wenonah, Alabama) was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 6, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (Alabama) was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8, Minnesota Vikings outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith (Greenville) was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8, New England Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones (Enterprise, Troy) was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 11, Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (Alabama) was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12 and Los Angeles Chargers punter JK Scott (Alabama) was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 12.
