Man found fatally shot in Prince George's County roadway

No suspect information has been released in the case.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department are investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed in Capitol Heights Tuesday night.

The police department received a report around 7:10 p.m. about a shooting that happened on Abel Avenue, nearby Heath Street, just minutes away from the District of Columbia-Maryland state line. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Leon Steadham of Washington, D.C.  

No suspect information has been released in the case. Police are still working to determine a motive.

The investigation into the fatal shooting is active and ongoing by the police department.
