MINNEAPOLIS – The Twin Cities is in for a quiet and sunny Thursday, but more snowmakers are headed our way.

The metro will warm to 30 Thursday, which is near average. The entire state will get to bask in the sunshine.

The next storm system has led the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for far southern Minnesota between 3 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.

The system will roll over the metro during the Friday morning commute, and it will exit the state by lunchtime. One model shows the south metro picking up an inch of snow, while cities like Mankato and Rochester see closer to 4 inches. Communities in southwestern Minnesota, like Marshall and Worthington, could see upward of 5-8 inches.

Another model drastically cuts the accumulation, with the metro just getting a dusting, and most other communities seeing between 1-3 inches.

Then another system -- mainly comprised of scattered flurries -- comes in from the south late Friday night and into Saturday morning. It will impact the eastern half of the state, causing some slick roads.

Friday's high will be 33 in the metro, and Saturday will be a couple degrees warmer.

Next week, a big and sloppy storm is brewing, with rain, snow and more in play.
