BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - First Alert AccuTrack Satellite and Radar shows a few light rain showers moving from west to east across our northern counties, generally staying north of I-22 and I-20. Most of us will stay dry tonight, but as per the trend thus far this week, we’ll keep a chance for isolated showers areas north. Mostly cloudy skies will stick around with patchy fog developing closer to daybreak. Once again, tomorrow morning will be mild and humid when you walk out the door with temperatures in the 60s. So, you may need to turn on your AC when you get in your car! With more sunshine breaking through the clouds and a lower rain chance for tomorrow, afternoon highs will approach record-breaking territory with upper 70s and low 80s in the forecast.

Heading into the start of the weekend, rain chances will hang out around 30-40% for Friday and Saturday with off-and-on showers possible under a cloudy sky, especially north of I-20. Temperatures will be near 70 with morning lows in the upper 50s and low 60s. A cold front sliding across central Alabama will knock down temperatures a bit for the latter half of the weekend, but still staying warmer than average for early December. Highs will top out in the 60s on Sunday with lows back in the 50s. With the cold front passing through, expect rain coverage to pick up Saturday night into Sunday morning. We don’t expect a washout, but some scattered showers will likely be around before clearing out by lunchtime on Sunday. Some peeks of sunshine may manage to break through on Sunday afternoon, too.

The mild unsettled pattern will stick around through the middle of next week. Highs will climb into the upper 60s and low 70s through Wednesday with mornings comfortable in the 50s. Despite the weekend front drying us out a bit, humidity will be on the rise again by late Tuesday. Prior to that, rain coverage will fall to 10-30% on Monday and Tuesday under a mix of sun and clouds.

NEXT BIG THING: Models have been hinting at a storm system developing to our west early next week that could eventually bring some rain and storms to us on Wednesday and possibly into Thursday. Right now, ingredients look more favorable to support a severe weather threat to our west, but there is still some uncertainty on whether that will end up panning out here in Alabama. Regardless, we have a First Alert for at least some stormy weather by the middle of next week, so keep checking back on the WBRC First Alert Weather App for updates as we fine-tune the forecast in the days ahead. Once we get these storms out of here, we should finally see a return of some colder and drier weather!
