Adult Swim has distanced itself from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland following the charges of domestic abuse that came to light earlier this month. This means that he is no longer voicing either of the two titular characters and now the fans are taking their turn to audition as Rick and/or Morty.

Following charges of domestic abuse, false imprisonment and battery, High on Life studio, Squanch Games has parted ways with its co-founder, Justin Roiland. Roiland pleaded not guilty to the charges in October 2020 but was ordered by the courts not to make contact with the alleged victim or be within 100 feet. He was also released on a $50,000 bail. Furthermore, Roiland was also ordered to relinquish firearms that may be in his possession; that court order is set to expire in October this year.

Justin Roiland has now lost out on further projects in the works with Hulu and 20th Century Television issuing from his domestic violence charges and surrounding controversy. Roiland is the co-creator of Rick and Morty and he used to voice the two titular characters. Adult Swim announced that he will no longer be involved in the remainder of the sci-fi sitcom, which has an order of 10 seasons, excluding a credit to Roiland for his contribution to the creation of Rick and Morty. His attorney maintains his innocence of the two felony counts of domestic battery with corporal injury and of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit that emerged out of 2020. Roiland pleaded not guilty and a protective order was filed against the actor to prevent him from harassing, threatening or surveilling the person specified.
