Thinking about decorating your home or business for the holidays? It’s time to get out of the house and get in the holiday spirit!
The Mesquite Holiday Decorating contest offers residents the opportunity to show off their holiday light displays at homes or businesses in the city. All decorations need to be visible from the sidewalk in front of the residence or business.
Applications for the contest are being accepted now through the deadline of Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7:00 p.m.. The contest will be limited to the first 50 applications received. Application for this free event can be obtained at the Mesquite Recreation Center at 100 W. Old Mill Road or on the City’s website.
“We are encouraging community pride by decorating in the spirit of the holiday,” said Nicholas Montoya, Director of Mesquite Dept of Athletics and Leisure Services. “Individuals and businesses that have gone above and beyond in decorating their residence or business in an exceptional and creative approach will be recognized for their hard work during the City Council meeting in January.”
Judging in the contest will be based on several criteria including Creativeness, Lights and Decorations (The GRIZ), Originality, and Overall Appearance.
The nights of judging will be Saturday and Sunday, December 17-18.
