“He gave me a hug and he left, I have yet to see him since," said Ronda Craig, mother of Nathan Jackson.
It's been nearly two weeks since a local family has heard from their loved one.
Nathan Jackson surprised his mom Ronda Craig for Thanksgiving in Wofford Heights.
The following Friday, he left the house for Bakersfield and that was the last time they saw him.
"He says I'm going to Tracy's, I will contact you because he knows I won't take phone calls," said Craig.
His mom said Tracy is Jackson's ex-girlfriend. He was supposed to go to her house in Bakersfield to do some laundry before selling his car.
However, his mom and cousin, Brandon Kimble said while he was on the canyon of Highway 178 he was supposed to call them when he reached his destination...but he never called them, and never made it to his destination.

"He’s done it regularly many, many times and he always gets ahold of somebody, because it's just one of the unspoken rules that we have when you're going through there," said Kimble.
Jackson reassured his mom twice letting her know she’d hear from him once he got to his destination.
“I'll message you when I come out that canyon," said Craig.
Jackson’s mom said there’s only been one other time he didn’t call and that’s because his car broke down on that same road.
She had some comfort in that instance because she was reassured by officials that he was getting roadside assistance.
This time around his family said his location last showed up when he reached five miles into the Highway 178 to Bakersfield.
They say he hasn’t contacted his friends and his second car, which was supposed to be his primary car, is still where it was last seen.
“His mom is really worried definitely, everyone is really worried actually he's never had this issue because he usually gets ahold of somebody," said Kimble.
The family has had help from helicopters and drones, but there haven’t been any signs of him.
Jackson is 6'2 and 150 pounds.
He was last seen driving a lifted 1988 Chevy Blazer with a Nevada license plate.
And has a tattoo of a skateboarder on his calf and a dragon tattoo on his arm.
His family including his mother have different theories of what could’ve happened, but they only want one outcome.
“I would rather know he's alive," said Craig.
