The good news for Notre Dame is the Syracuse 2-3 zone won’t be on the floor Wednesday night as the Irish look to rebound from the disappointing loss to Syracuse over the weekend.

The other good news for Mike Brey’s program is fifth-year senior Marcus Hammond made his debut in an Irish uniform and had a positive impact on Saturday. Hammond finished his debut scoring six points with two rebounds and three assists in just 19 minutes.

It’s a positive sign for the team as Brey’s squad desperately needed another body in the rotation, but also another ball handler and scorer on the floor.

While some will criticize Brey’s seven-man rotation philosophy, it’s historically what he’s wanted during his tenure in South Bend.

Perhaps the most significant development is the Irish got some much-needed practice time over the last few days. Notre Dame needed to get some rest, but also get familiar with Hammond back in the lineup. Sure, the team got plenty of work with Hammond over the summer, but with him missing seven games, there needs to be an acclimation period.

Notre Dame also needs to get Nate Laszewski back on track. The 6-foot-10 forward missed scoring in double figures the last two games after starting the year hot. Laszewski defense and rebounding have been there, but the Irish need him to get back in the flow on the offensive end.

Wednesday night should be an easy win for the Irish as Boston has just two starters averaging in double figures and the Terriers don't have a ton of size down low.
