BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WV News) — Four players from the Buckhannon-Upshur High School Buccaneer Football team were named to the Big 10 Conference’s postseason selection teams at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
Senior Savion Farmer, sophomore Kaden Jordan, junior Ryan Kelley and junior Blake Runyon represented the Buccaneers (Bucs) in the selections. Farmer, who was an integral part of the Bucs’ offense during their 2022 campaign, rushed over 1,500 yards and helped the team to a 5-5 record, 4-2 in conference play.
“It meant a lot to me and the team to win the last few games of our season. I’m glad I have those memories with my teammates,” said Farmer.
The Bucs would pick up a string of consecutive victories to cap off their season against Grafton, Preston and Elkins, two of which were shutouts, scoring 100 points combined in the wins and holding their opponents to 12 points in total.
“It was a huge honor and huge accomplishment being selected as an All-Conference Linebacker,” said Runyon. “Being a part of the team is like being a part of a family — even after the season, we all still bonded in a way.”
Runyon would go on to add the highlight of his career, so far at B-UHS when he sacked the rival Phillip Barbour quarterback to end the game, which resulted in a 26-22 victory.
Selected players Kaden Jordan and Ryan Kelley were unavailable for comment.
Congratulations to the above-mentioned athletes on their accomplishments. The Record Delta would like to wish Farmer well in his future, as his time as a Buccaneer comes to a close.
