MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers (Bucs) swimming team traveled to the Mylan Park Aquatics Center to compete against several schools, such as Grafton, Wheeling Park, Fairmont Senior and Morgantown, on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
The Bucs would place fifth between the boys and girls in the final standings in both categories, scoring a combined 363 points.
Cadence Vincent would place first in several events, including the girls 50 Free with a time of 23.50 and the 100 Free with a time of 51.19, including contributing second-place finishes for the Bucs relay team along with Alayna Whitehair, Rylee Yardley and Lillian Fetty in the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relay events. They would finish with times of 2:04.28 and 1:51.22 in the respective events.
Whitehair would place second in the Girls 100 Free with a time of 1:05.52 and second in the 100 Back with a time of 1:03.43.
The boys relay team consisting of Preston Bennett, Owen Caynor, Carter Zuliani and Reis Leonard would place first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:37.02 and third in the 400 Free with a time of 3:43.23.
The boys would add on to the day with impressive individual performances. Preston Bennett would place first in the 200 IM (2:06.07), Reis Leonard sixth in the 50 Free (25.04) and Owen Caynor seventh in the 100 Free, finishing with a final time of 58.43.
The Bucs will travel to the Davis & Elkins College campus on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, for a dual meet with Elkins High School.
