Cibola holds on tight in Hawk’s Nest, takes first of two divisional meetings

Raiders boys basketball wins in the road at Gila Ridge to take early edge in 6A Desert Southwest division

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - In one of the best crosstown rivalries in Yuma, the Cibola boys hoops squad got the early upper hand in the 6A Desert Southwest division.

The Raiders came out swinging in the first quarter with some buckets from Derek Stanley, part of a 7-0 run that put them up big - but a Gila Ridge run at the end of the quarter, capped off by a Leonard Scaife deep three, made it a four-point game.

From there the scoring would shift back and forth until the final minute, where the Raiders would hold on 73-67 and improve to 5-3 for their second straight win - led by 31 points from Maddox Harmoney.

The Hawks fall to 0-5 to start the season.
