San Juan Grade Road to be closed for emergency repair starting Thursday
A section of San Juan Grade Road northeast of Salinas will have daily closures beginning Thursday, Dec. 8 through Dec 22.Monterey County work crews will be doing emergency slope and roadway repair work. The closure area will begin 3.5 miles north of Crazy Horse Canyon Road and end at the San Benito County line. This section of road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.Expect additional travel time of up to 20 minutes. Signs will be in place to alert drivers in both directions and Monterey County recommends you allow extra time for your commute through the area.A detour route around the construction site will be put into place. Drivers should take Crazy Horse Canyon Road north to US-101 north and then take CA-156 east to The Alameda and then Salinas Road to San Juan Grade Road. Travelers heading south are directed to take The Alameda to CA-156 west to US-101 south to Crazy Horse Canyon Road via Echo Valley Road exit to San Juan Grade Road.For more information on traffic advisories in Monterey County click here.
