The Los Angeles Lakers are officially on fire these days, willing themselves out from the bottom of the Western Conference. Anthony Davis just took Western Conference Player of the Week honors after claiming ownership of the Washington Wizards with 55 points and 17 rebounds as the latest chapter of the greatest run of his career.

He is now one of only three Lakers to achieve 40+ points and 10+ rebounds in back-to-back games. The others were Shaquille O’Neal and this guy…

He did it 14 different times. The website Lake Show Life is more than a site gushing over the latest player in the purple and gold. We celebrate greatness too. That stat is ridiculous and his career is totally underrated. Why? People fight over who is the GOAT for this franchise between Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant, but if it wasn’t for this man right here, there wouldn’t be a franchise for these two to play on. Google it!

The Los Angeles Lakers are hot, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are nearly unbeatable at home. The Cavs sure showed why as they beat the Lakers 116-102. The winning streak ends at three with a game in Toronto coming up Wednesday night.

LeBron James got a lot of stats; 21 points and 17 rebounds. Just enough to avoid the fact that he let his foot off the gas when Anthony Davis left the game. Hopefully, AD has a head cold because if it’s the flu, look for another coast job by the supposed King.

The good from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss (Hey we have to fill it with something!):

The consistent Lakers runs in the first half!

With Anthony Davis being out of the game after eight minutes, the rest of the team kept things going with strong runs in the first and second quarters.

  • First quarter: a 13-2 run to cut into a Cleveland Cavaliers lead.
  • Second quarter: 11-3 run to take the lead at 41-38.
  • Third quarter: 14-2 run to withstand a Cavaliers flurry in the third quarter!

Then there was this 21-6 run by Cleveland to put the game away. Here’s where things ended…badly.

It’s time to start a dialogue on Thomas Bryant getting 15-20 minutes consistently!

Introducing the only sense of physicality for the Los Angeles Lakers in this game. But you really can’t blame the rest of the frontline because the guards and wings couldn’t stay in front of a statue with extra cement and steel. More on that later.

The Lakers bench was a huge difference in Anthony Davis’ absence!

Led by the aforementioned Thomas Bryant and Russell Westbrook (The odds-on favorite for Sixth Man of the Year!), the Lakers destroyed Cleveland’s bench 52-19. With AD out of the game, the Lakers needed players to fill the void and the bench mob did.

The bad from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

In ESPN 30 for 30 voice… What if I told you that Anthony Davis did not take a shot in the first quarter?

Let’s put this in perspective, shall we? Anthony Davis came into this contest averaging 49.5 points over the last two games. Stop and let that sink in. He did not have a field goal attempt in EIGHT MINUTES that he was on the floor in the first quarter. Like is this team competent? Like really? A dude that averaged 49.5 points in the last two wins can’t look at the rim…just a peek?

Well, the Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t have an issue finding their big man in Jarrett Allen…

Ah well…this is what they call a “segue”

Jarrett Allen just destroyed the Lakers pick-and-roll defense!

He started the game hitting his first ten shots. He was so dominant that when he missed his first shot shooting over Dennis Schroder, TNT analyst, Stan Van Gundy joked…”See put Dennis Schroder on him!” This was not about AD leaving, he was killing the Lakers long before he left. This was bad defense with few adjustments.

Allen had 22 points on 10-11 shooting with 7 rebounds in the first half alone. He had never had one in his career before this game, but the Los Angeles Lakers are known to let the “others” from other teams have all-world nights from time to time.

Patrick Beverley…

My goodness, this guy can’t shoot. The Cavaliers were taking their lunch break every time this guy shot the ball.

Anthony Davis left the game with flu-like symptoms…

We might be still in a COVID-19 pandemic, but that flu is no joke either. Ask the Agers family!

The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

The difference between Lake Show Life and the majority of Lakers media…

Here’s what the media will say about this game…

“The Los Angeles Lakers lose the game because Anthony Davis got sick”

Here’s the reality courtesy of Lake Show Life…

“The Los Angeles Lakers guards are completely awful defending the perimeter!”

Folks, this game came down to the inability of the Lakers guards and wings to stay in front of any Cleveland Cavaliers guard to keep them out of the paint. They were so bad, the Cavs really didn’t get to the free-throw line much until the final quarter. Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell just carved up the Lakers’ defense. In the first half, they got Jarrett Allen going and then when the Lake Show adjusted, Mitchell went crazy in the final 12 minutes.

Let’s break down the stats of the starting guards…

  • Donovan Mitchell: 43 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.
  • Darius Garland: 21 points and 11 assists.
  • Dennis Schroder: 16 points.

What about Patrick Beverley? Okay, let’s talk about him!

Pat-Bev is killing the Lakers!

Stop this toughness narrative. Stop the defense narrative. You could put the guy writing this out there and get similar results. He’s awful. He shoots 27 percent from the field and 22 percent from the 3-point line. Why is he starting? He is not going to get traded unless someone buys him out for cap space. This is ridiculous.

Austin Reaves was amazing in this game to get the 8 points he had in this game. He was out of rhythm and any momentum he was gaining is being messed with by Beverley’s atrocious play. Bench him or put him in a situation to get suspended for another three games.
