One hospitalized after fire at Lincoln apartment building

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A fire burned the top floor of a Lincoln apartment building on Tuesday night.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to the two-story building near 21st and A Streets around 8:20 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Jim Bopp.

They found heavy flames, coming mostly from the top floor.

While attacking the blaze, firefighters searched for people inside.

Everyone made it out, but one person was taken to a hospital, Bopp said.

He said the preliminary investigation shows that the blaze was caused by a cooking fire that “got out of hand.”

The fire caused $250,000 in damage to the building and $50,000 in damage to the contents, according to LFR.
