A Salem woman is dead after a head-on crash on Hawthorne Avenue NE and eastbound State Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to Salem Police.

The crash occurred just after 4 p.m., police said.

The driver of a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling westbound on State Street when it crashed into a Ford Fiesta driven by 67-year-old Nancy Satalich.

Police said Satalich was making a northbound turn onto Hawthorne Avenue from State Street when her car was hit head-on. Satalich died at the scene.

The area was closed for about five hours, according to police.
