The Oregon Department of Transportation is installing large boulders under an overpass in North Portland.

The overpass is at Marine Drive and Northeast Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, just before the Interstate Bridge.

ODOT says this is an area where people camp.

The use of boulders as a camping deterrent has been controversial.

ODOT says it's a safety issue, especially along busy roads and highways.
