Free live Christmas tree flame-retardant ‘dipping’

Glasgow Fire Department Station 2

GLASGOW, Ky. – If you prefer a real fir versus faux… there is one important step to take before bringing your Christmas tree home.

The Glasgow Fire Department has been dipping Christmas trees for residents for the last decade.

Firefighters use a flame retardant solution that decreases any chance of your tree catching fire.

GFD Fire Chief William Rock said, “We mixed the solution into a tank. We suspend the tree. You can come out and get your tree. We’ll take it in and we’ll dip it… Let your tree dry before you take it back into your house because the substance is a little sticky…. Making sure you keep your tree watered is a big thing.”

The tree dipping service is free. Just bring your live tree by Glasgow Fire Station number two every day through Christmas Day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
