Michelin released its latest list on Monday, revealing which restaurants received the highly-acclaimed culinary award. San Francisco restaurants Nisei, Osito, San Ho Won, as well as Press in St. Helena and Cyrus in Geyserville made the exclusive cut.

Restaurant Nisei provides a modern take on Japanese soul food; Osito is a live fire tasting menu where Bay Area agriculture is put on display; San Ho Won is a casual Korean, charcoal BBQ restaurant located in the Mission District; Press offers seafood, steaks and Napa wines in a patio setting; and Cyrus is an unprecedented approach to fine dining.

The celebration of the six restaurants was also met with disappointment as 10 Bay Area restaurants were dropped off the stars list this year. A number of those restaurants fell victim to the pandemic and had previously closed their doors before the Michelin Guide was released.

89 restaurants in California now have at least one Michelin star, with seven restaurants achieving three star status. The state trails France and Japan as the region with the highest number of three-starred establishments in the world.
