Cadiz Police Department Brings Carroll On Board

A 27-year military veteran — one familiar with west Kentucky and northwest Tennessee — has joined the Cadiz Police Department.

Early Monday morning, Chief Duncan Wiggins swore in Brian Carroll — with the full expectation he will serve as a full patrolman next summer after March 2023 training in Richmond.

This is Carroll’s first experience in law enforcement, but Wiggins notes there are other characteristics he will bring while training for service.

Carroll’s comfort with this area, Wiggins said, also played a factor in his hiring.

A native Texan from Denton County, Carroll and his family recently moved back to the Fort Campbell area of Herndon. His wife is from Clarksville, and “most of the kids and grandkids” are around the Clarksville area.

From about 1998 through 2002, Carroll and his family lived in Cadiz while being stationed with the Screaming Eagles.

Carroll noted his time in a police uniform began just three weeks ago, November 14 to be exact, but he’d “been bored” with retirement and wanted to be of service — especially to a small, local police force.

Working in police, as well as a return to some training, brings back a familiar routine for Carroll, too.

Wiggins said Carroll will have an office administrative role until his training is complete in east Kentucky.

Two patrol openings remain for the Cadiz Police Department, though Wiggins said one of those will be filled and announced within the next week.
