Lucas Meachem Replaces Artur Ruciński in Met Operas ‘Fedora’

Lucas Meachem is set to take over the role of De Siriex for the Metropolitan Opera’s upcoming production of “Fedora.”

Meachem steps in for Artur Ruciński, who canceled his participation in the the production, stating on social media that, “‼️My dearest friends, it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce my very unfortunate withdrawal from the new production of Fedora at the @metopera due to a sudden emergency procedure on my spine and time needed for recovery.”

Meachem will take on all of the productions with the exception of the final one on Jan. 28, 2023, which will showcase Sergio Vitale, in his Met debut, in the role of De Siriex.

 

 

Meachem will join a cast that includes Sonya Yoncheva, Piotr Beczala, and Rosa Feola. Sir David McVicar will direct with Marco Armiliato conducting.

“Fedora” opens on Dec. 31 and is set to run through Jan. 28, 2023.
