Fire on Wild Bill Way (Santa Rosa Fire Department)

Improper ash disposal is to blame for a destructive house fire in Santa Rosa. Fire officials say the November 27th fire began in ashes in a green compost cart, then spread to a house. The fire displaced a family of five from the home. Investigators say they had a fire going in a fire pit on Thanksgiving, let the ashes sit overnight, then put them in a green cart the next day. They wrongly assumed those ashes were cold.
