Triple-stabbing suspect charged with murder, aggravated assault
VICTORIA, Texas – At approximately 7:20 p.m. on Monday Dec. 5., Victoria Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Circle St. in response to a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they quickly detained the suspect before entering the residence. They located three victims with multiple stab wounds and immediately requested assistance.
Officers, along with the help of the Victoria Fire Department EMS, attempted lifesaving measures on all three victims. One victim, however, succumbed to his injuries at the location. Officials identified the victim as Ruben Salinas Jr., 55.
The two additional victims, 53-year-old Sandra Garcia, and an eight-year-old child, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The eight-year-old child was then flown to a hospital in San Antonio, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 27-year-old Joseph Jordan Garcia, of Victoria. Garcia has been charged with the following:
- Murder
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 2 counts
According to local authorities, this is an isolated family violence incident.
Police Chief Roberto Arredondo released the following statement
“Last night’s incident was very tragic, and the victims’ and first responders’ lives have been changed forever,” said Police Chief Roberto Arredondo. “On behalf of the Victoria Police Department, I would like to express our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims.”
