Perhaps both occurrences are unrelated, but when they occur two days apart, there’s most certainly a desire to mention them in tandem. Less than 48 hours after the Philadelphia Eagles toppled Tennessee to improve to 11-1 (and A.J. Brown found some much-needed closure), the Titans have announced that they’re moving on from their general manager.

According to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Jon Robinson is out. While no one needs to speculate until more information is available, it’s difficult to avoid asking questions about what happened for several reasons.

Jon Robinson’s final game as Titans G.M. was lost to A.J. Brown and the surging Eagles.

Okay, no one is stating that Jon Robinson lost his job because he traded A.J. Brown and then watched him dominate Tennessee in Week 13 to the tune of eight receptions, 119 yards receiving, and two touchdowns. It is a strange coincidence though. You have to admit that.

The Titans are 7-5 on the season after 12 games. They’re in first place in the AFC South’s standings. They lead both the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars by three full games with five to play. If the regular season ended today, Tennessee would be a division winner, the AFC’s fourth seed in the postseason, and they’d host a playoff game.

It sounds like a strange time to part ways with your G.M., doesn’t it? The Titans hired Robinson on January 14th of 2016. He leaves Tennessee with the franchise owning a 59-38 record under his watch. Keep both eyes on this one. It will be interesting to learn more about this decision as more information is released.
