Lady Jays bring home the championship

Junction City Lady Jay wrestling began their season with the Doug Kretzer Girls Classic in McPherson. The Lady Jays took home their FIRST EVER IN SCHOOL history 1st place finish as a Team, with 182 points. 

Junction CIty had 13 of 14 weight classes competing and that heavily contributed to the teams finish. At this 17-team tournament the Lady Jays had three individual champions and two 2nd place finishers.

--Sophomore, Jaidyn Alvarado (3-0) placed 1st @ 100lbs

--Freshman, Bre Villanueva (3-0) placed 1st @ 115lbs

--Junior, Charly Goodwin (4-0) placed 1st @ 120lbs

--Senior, Naomi Tanaka (3-1) placed 2nd @ 140lbs

--Senior, Kennedi Turner (2-1) placed 2nd @ 235lbs

The Women’s wrestling team will dual Shawnee Heights this Wednesday at JCHS.  Then they go to Great Bend Friday for their Christmas Clash, a 34 team,  two-day tournament.
