Former employee assaults co-worker after being fired for theft: Broadview Heights Police Blotter

BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio

Assault: Royalton Road

On Nov. 9, police were dispatched to a Royalton Road appliance store regarding an assault.

An arriving officer talked to the victim, who said he was standing outside the store conversing with co-workers before their shift when he was struck in the face by another employee, who left in a black SUV.

A witness corroborated the statement. The man had a small laceration on his lip and a broken blood vessel in his right eye.

It turned out that the day before, the suspect had been fired for theft. The victim was the person who wrote up the theft incident report.

Later, police saw video of the assault posted on Instagram. The suspect was charged with assault.

Forgery: Royalton Road

On Nov. 10, a resident came to the police department after discovering that he was the victim of fraud.

The man told the officer that he had mailed a $43 check to the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation Nov. 6 into the exterior mailbox of the Royalton Road post office.

A few days later, he discovered that someone had forged and cashed the check for $4,500.

There are no suspects. Police are investigating.
