Hungry and speeding, Parma driver admits to having ‘a bit to drink’ before arrest: Brecksville Police Blotter

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio

Drunken driving: Royalton Road

On Oct. 28, police observed a speeding maroon Buick traveling 77 mph in a 25 mph zone on Royalton Road.

The officer caught up with the Buick as it was entering the Interstate 77 northbound ramp. While talking to the Parma driver, the officer smelled booze.

Asked about the speeding, the man said, “I apologize; it was unjustified.” The driver guessed he was going 80 mph.

At first, the man said he had left his home and was headed to a local burger joint. When it was noted that he lived in Parma, the driver changed his story, saying he had been at his parents’ home taking care of a dog.

That’s when the driver said: “I’m going to be honest. I’ve had a bit to drink tonight.”

Asked to elaborate, the man said he had had three beers.

After failing a field sobriety test, during which he was unstable on his feet, the man was arrested for drunken driving. He was also cited for speeding.
