Police say the man connected to killing two people and injuring a 96-year-old in a total of three shootings across New York City is under police custody.
Police have identified the suspect as Sundance Oliver, and he is wanted in the killing of a 17-year-old girl in Crown Heights and a 21-year-old man in Manhattan.
The NYPD said Tuesday that Oliver turned himself in to police at the 77th Precinct. Police say Oliver turned himself in without the weapon that was used in the shootings.
Commissioner Keechant Sewell applauded the NYPD for the arrest of Oliver, adding that these most recent crimes began when he stole over $4,400 in a robbery on Nov. 21.
Authorities say a teenage girl was shot early Tuesday morning at the Kingsborough Houses inside an apartment on the seventh floor. She was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police have identified the victim as 17-year-old Keyaira Rattray.
However, this isn't the only shooting Oliver is responsible for, according to the NYPD. On Sunday at around 9:30 a.m., a 96-year-old man in a wheelchair, who police say was not the intended target was caught in the middle of crossfire in Bergen Heights, suffered gunshot wound to the leg. He’s expected to be OK.
Police say they found a 21-year-old man in Manhattan at around 2:40 p.m. with gunshot wounds to the chest and leg near St. James Place. He was pronounced dead, and Oliver is the suspected killer.
Oliver was a known associate to the 17-year-old and the 21-year-old that were killed, officials say. Oliver also had 12 prior arrests, two for menacing and other charges. He was on parole for robbery as well, officials say.
