Remember Meizu? Well, the company's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone surfaced

Many of you will remember Meizu, a Chinese company with a huge prospect back in the day. Things didn’t exactly go as planned for Meizu, so it did not grow as expected. Meizu still makes phones, though, but only a couple (max) per year. That phone, or sometimes phones, end up being quite powerful. Well, it seems like Meizu is planning to launch a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device in the near future.

Meizu is working on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 smartphone

That smartphone just popped up on Geekbench. Its codename is ‘meizu m2392’, and it’s fueled by the most powerful SoC Qualcomm has to offer. In addition to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, this device also packs in 12GB of RAM, and Android 13.

The phone managed to score 1,409 points in the single-core test, and 4,199 points in the multi-core test. Do note that this may be a pre-production unit, though, of course.

So, what phone is this? Well, it could be the Meizu 20 or Meizu 20 Pro, actually. The company will launch either one of two flagship smartphones in the near future, and chances are those will be their names.

That model number that is used here doesn’t make much sense. The Meizu 20 and Meizu 20 Pro are allegedly using M381Q and M391Q model numbers, and not the m2392. Anything is possible, though, so we’ll have to wait and see.

This is likely the Meizu 20 Pro

The Meizu 20 Pro is expected to arrive in both 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, with 256GB and 512GB of internal storage. That’s basically all the additional information that we have thus far.

As some of you may remember, the Meizu takeover by Geely’s Xingji Times was completed in July this year. Meizu was flying high back in the day, people had huge expectations. The company did take some wrong turns along the way, which impacted its business considerably.

It remains to be seen what will Xingji Times be able to do with the company, though.
