PINE64 has launched the Ox4, a miniature single-board computer (SBC) that relies on a RISC-V processor. The PINE64 Ox64 is available from US$6 in 16 MB and 128 MB variants, with the latter offering microSD card expansion too.

PINE64 has introduced another single-board computer (SBC). Introduced in early October, the PINE64 Ox64 is about the size of a Raspberry Pi Pico W at 51 x 21 x 19 mm. The similarities do not end there either, with the PINE64 Ox64 also starting at US$6. However, the PINE64 Ox64 has a dual-core RISC-V processor rather than the RP2040 microcontroller powering the Pico W.

Specifically, the PINE64 Ox64 contains the Bouffalo Lab BL808, which utilises the following Alibaba T-head components:

  • 1x C906 64-bit CPU core (480 MHz)
  • 1 x E907 32-bit CPU core (320 MHz)
  • 1 x E902 32-bit core (150 MHz)

Additionally, PINE64 equips the Ox64 with twin USB Type-C ports, a 40-pin expansion header, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 4 and Zigbee wireless protocols (802.15.4). Moreover, the SBC will eventually support 100 Mbit Ethernet connections via an add-on board. Linux support is in the pipeline too, although this will only be available on the SKU with 128 MB flash.

By contrast, the cheaper 16 Mbit variant will only support RTOS, for which PINE64 has published an SDK. Currently, the PINE64 Ox64 costs US$6 for the 16 MB variant and US$8 for the 128 MB option. The 128 MB variant features a microSD card reader for Linux support too. Please see PINE64’s wiki for more details about the Ox64, including schematics.
