Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, the NBA announced on Monday. This award is for the week from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4.
This is Durant’s fifth time winning the award as a Brooklyn Net and the 31st time in his amazing career. He played four games during the aforementioned week and he averaged 33 points, seven rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game. The Nets went 3-1 with wins over the Orlando Magic, the Washington Wizards, and the Toronto Raptors.
Durant is one of 27 players in Nets history to win the award and is one of two players to win the award at least five times with the other being Jason Kidd who won the award nine times. Lastly, Durant has won the award the third-most times in NBA history, behind only LeBron James (65) and the late Kobe Bryant (33).

Even though the Brooklyn Nets are only 13-12, Durant is considered an MVP candidate for his play this season. Among other things, he has had to carry the team during Ben Simmons’ recurring knee issues and Kyrie Irving’s eight-game team suspension for tweeting a link to a movie rife with antisemitic rhetoric.
