Sirens: Cutting Christmas Lights; Waving a Gun; Retail Theft; Criminal Impersonation

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Burglary 

• Just after 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 2, there was a report that someone damaged a window of a building in the 1100 block of West First Street and entered the building without authorization. The case is under investigation. 

• Unidentified suspects reportedly broke in through the back door of a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 5 and stole several electronic devices. A K9 searched the area but did not locate the suspects or stolen items. The case is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Electronic devices, debit and credit cards and keys were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Johnson Road at 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 2. 

• A Seattle man was arrested in the 100 block of North Gold Street at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Dec. 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly stealing mail out of a vehicle. 

 

Retail Theft 

• Just after 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 2, two subjects described as “females around 18-21 years of age” reportedly stole from an outlet in the 1300 block of Lum Road and fled in a silver Hyundai Elantra. 

• Juveniles reportedly stole “unknown grocery items” from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 2. 

• A Chehalis man was cited for shoplifting in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 2. 

• An Auburn man was arrested just after 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding warrant, as well as for new third-degree theft and resisting arrest charges, after he allegedly shoplifted from an outlet in the 100 block of West High Street. An officer reportedly saw the man shoplifting and confronted him outside, but the man “attempted to run from the officer and resisted the officer’s attempts to restrain him,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• A Marysville man was arrested in the 1400 block of Lum Road just before 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft after allegedly stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise from a business. Additional retail theft with special circumstances and third-degree thefts have been referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office. 

• Two unidentified suspects reportedly stole $1,800 worth of merchandise from a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 5:25 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

• A Centralia man was cited for shoplifting from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 6:55 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

• Two suspects reportedly stole a pressure washer from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:50 a.m. on Dec. 5. The suspects were last seen heading toward Borst Park. A K9 unit tracked the suspects to a nearby parking lot, where officers believe the suspects may have left in a vehicle. The case is under investigation. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run reported at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and East Locust Street just after 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 2 is under investigation. 

 

Drug Violation 

• A Winlock woman and a Centralia man were cited for narcotic drug violations in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:05 p.m. on Dec. 2. 

 

Criminal Impersonation 

• A Tacoma man was arrested near milepost 81 of northbound Interstate 5 in Centralia just before 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding warrant and new charges of possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver and criminal impersonation. He is also under investigation by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office for a stolen vehicle case, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A Chehalis man was arrested in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just after 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 3 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly threatening health care providers and interfering with a health care facility. 

 

Cutting Christmas Lights

• A Winlock man was cited for third-degree malicious mischief just before 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 for allegedly cutting Christmas lights in George Washington Park. 



 

Waving a Gun 

• Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Lum Road just after 9:55 a.m. on Dec. 4 after dispatch received several reports of “a male waving a gun around,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The subject, a Winlock man, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for knowingly possessing a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon after officers located “a Nerf-type gun, brass knuckles with a knife and suspected methamphetamine” on his person. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle Accident 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 7:55 a.m. on Dec. 2. 

• A non-injury, three-vehicle collision that resulted in one vehicle crashing into a ditch near the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Median Street was reported just after 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run to a telephone pole was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 9:05 a.m. on Dec. 4. 

 

Vehicle Theft 

• A utility trailer was reported stolen from the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 9:55 a.m. on Dec. 2. 

• A 2006 Ford F350 was reported stolen from the 600 block of Southeast Adams Avenue at 7:10 p.m. on Dec. 2. 

 

Other Theft 

• A suspect reportedly stole a coat from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:55 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road just after 5:55 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A juvenile reportedly damaged the railing of a shed on school property in the 2000 block of Southwest Salsbury Avenue at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 2. 

 

Trespassed From Property 

• A group of six adults and two kids were trespassed from a business in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 after they reportedly got into a verbal argument with an employee who asked them to leave an area of the business that had closed half an hour prior. 

• Just after 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 4, a caller reported she received a phone alert from her home security system that a male walked into her garage 10-15 minutes prior and hadn’t walked out. No arrests were made. 

• Just before 10:25 p.m. on Dec. 4, a caller reported an unidentified male wearing all black was in her backyard and had tapped on her windows before walking down the hill into the woods. He was later seen walking back toward the house and kicking a sign. No arrests were made. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 149 inmates, including 136 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 106 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
