Officers solve mystery of fur coat mix-up at Hunt Club: Gates Mills Police Blotter

Missing property: Chagrin River Road

A woman reported from the Chagrin Valley Hunt Club Nov. 30 that after dining, she could not locate her $5,000 fur coat in the coat room.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that a similar coat had been found unclaimed in another area of the club and that hers had been inadvertently taken by another guest.

The coats were subsequently reunited with the correct owners.

Lost property: Brigham Road

Three opened Amazon packages were found off the roadway near Battle Road Nov. 28. They were all addressed to Kirtland residents and contained pet supplies and assorted household items.

Those residents were contacted, and all said they did not receive the deliveries. Amazon was also advised of the incident.

Traffic stop: Mayfield Road

A Euclid man, 21, was cited for reckless operation Nov. 29 after his vehicle was stopped for traveling 31 mph over the speed limit.

General assistance: Battles Road

An officer assisted a real estate agent Dec. 2 in checking a portion of a home before she entered it.

Welfare check: Chartley Road

A neighbor requested a welfare check Dec. 2 at a home where newspapers and packages had been gathering at the front door. Officers confirmed the residents were out of town.

Utilities: West Hill Drive

A portion of the roadway near Gates Road was closed for about five hours Dec. 3 until FirstEnergy could tend to power lines that had fallen to the roadway during a windstorm.
