Vandalism: Marsol Road

Officers responded to the Drake apartments at 11:23 p.m. Nov. 24 for a report of shots fired and found that a vehicle had been struck twice.

The vehicle’s owner was at a friend’s apartment and learned of the incident when he received a text message from his theft alarm. He could not suggest any suspects.

One tenant said he saw an unknown suspect walking in the area after he heard the gunshots and looked out his window.

Theft: Golden Gate Plaza

An employee of Carter’s children’s wear reported Nov. 26 that an unknown woman had stolen approximately $83 worth of clothing by concealing the items in her purse.

The suspect was believed to be in a neighboring store, but was not located.

Welfare check: Worton Boulevard

A doctor sent the detective bureau a letter Nov. 28 regarding unspecified concerns about children at a home in the city.

The matter was investigated, and Cuyahoga County Child and Family Services was advised.

Vandalism: Indiana Avenue

A resident found damage to holiday decorations in her yard Nov. 26 after hearing popping sounds from inside her home.

An unknown boy and girl were suspects, but could not be located.

General assistance: Mayfield Road

Officers helped Cleveland Clinic police locate and return a man to Hillcrest Hospital after he walked out of the ICU Nov. 27.

He was located near CVS at Eastgate Plaza after he was said to be running through traffic.

General assistance: Golden Gate Plaza

A clerk at the Comfort Inn reported Nov. 28 that a man was calling the front desk continually because he was upset over the water temperature in the hotel.

Officers contacted the man and advised him to contact the corporate office about the matter. He was told he could be charged with harassment if he continued to call the front desk.

Open container in a public place: SOM Center Road

A man, 22, was found inside his parked vehicle near Micro Center Nov. 29 with an open bottle of tequila and marijuana.

He said he was just talking to some friends on the phone. He was cited for having an open container in a public place and for driving under suspension.

Impaired driving: Interstate 271

A Strongsville man, 40, was arrested for OVI after his vehicle was stopped for weaving during the afternoon of Nov. 30.

Special attention: SOM Center Road

Target management said Nov. 29 that a man had made threats that he would “end up on the news” after he was fired for harassing a co-worker for not going out with him on a date.

Officers spoke to the man, who said he was not going to follow through on the threats, but was just upset because he was bouncing from job to job.

He was advised that he was being banned from the store.

Fraud: Belrose Road

A resident said Nov. 30 that she had received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Amazon and advising that one of her credit cards had been used fraudulently to purchase two items for $2,800.

The woman did not provide any personal information. It was unknown if her cards had been used fraudulently or if the call was a potential scam.

Disturbance: SOM Center Road

A Highland Heights boy, 13, was said to have threatened to shoot up the middle school during an altercation with other students at wrestling practice Nov. 30.

Officers spoke with the boy and his parents. He said he threatened to shoot the other boys, but not shoot up the school. His parents confirmed that he had no access to any weapons.

The school administration handled the discipline with all the students involved in the altercation.

Theft: Marsol Road

A resident of the Drake apartments reported Nov. 30 that her Cleveland Indians jersey had gone missing from a laundry room a week earlier. She valued it at $80 and said it had sentimental value because it was given to her by her late mother.

There was no evidence that it had been stolen, but maintenance said surveillance video could be reviewed with a police report.
