A Mobile high school has been named one of the best robotics teams in the entire southeast.

The team won the best award at the South's Best Regional Robotics Competition at Auburn University over the weekend against 40 schools across the region.

The students had to not only build the robots but market them, set up an exhibit with their creation and provide a technical notebook with all the specs.

The team says the honors were overwhelming.

"When they announced our name the first thing that happened was shock and tears. A lot of tears," said Amelia Diaz, a member of the team. "Just to be able to make another first-place win with this team that I have here absolutely feels like my family," she continued.

This is Davidson's second 1st place victory in a row. Their teacher, Michael Fletcher, was also named the South's Best Robotics teacher of the year.
