PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. 2 P.M. UPDATE - Highway 70 reopened Monday afternoon after Caltrans reported a slide in the Feather River Canyon Sunday night.

The highway was closed Sunday night between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye after a rock slide about two miles east of Belden.

Crews and the contractor, JF Shea, were at the site of the slide removing debris. The highway reopened around 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Caltrans said it removed about 380 cubic yards of debris from the scene.

This section of the highway has been closed multiple times, including last year when it was closed for seven weeks due to a slide.

Caltrans told Action News Now that Sunday's slide was in a different area of the Feather River Canyon than the slide that closed the highway for weeks.
