Tax bills are coming out for Manitowoc County residents in a couple of weeks.
County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer tells Seehafer News, “Most people will be pleased that they are not going up too much, or going down a little bit. I think the tax bills in the City of Manitowoc are going down a couple percent, and that’s good.”
Ziegelbauer added that the county and the city passed budgets with a slight increase, but, “the School Board has a decrease, and that will decrease the total taxes.”
The county executive explains “We’re holding the line on taxes, but have to fight inflation.”
He added, “The biggest reason for the slight increase in taxes is the salary factor. Ziegelbauer stated we have to remain competitive so we raised salaries by 5 percent over the past year at a cost of $2 million.”
