CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 14-year-old boy and a 46-year-old man were arrested Monday in connection with two separate slayings in Cleveland.
Lawrence McKissic, 18, was shot in the head on Nov. 19 and died days later at University Hospitals. Police identified the 14-year-old suspect at the scene, but officers were not able to find him to arrest him.
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, a unit led by the U.S. Marshals Service, apprehended the boy in an apartment near the 400 block of Richmond Park Drive in Richmond Heights.
On Nov. 19, McKissic and the teen argued at a drive-thru at a convenience store at East 103rd Street and St. Clair Avenue in the city’s Glenville neighborhood. The 14-year-old boy is accused of shooting McKissic in the head and stealing his firearm before he ran away from the scene, authorities said.
A warrant was issued for the 14-year-old on Nov. 21. The charges include attempted murder, two counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of felonious assault and three counts of robbery. Other charges include grand theft, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
Records for the teen have not yet been filed in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, a court official said.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said Cleveland police worked quickly in the handling of the homicide investigation.
The task force also arrested Bayshun East, 46, of Cleveland in the fatal shooting of Dontae Malone, 27. The shooting took place Nov. 17 near the intersection of East 28th Street and Cedar Avenue in the city’s Central neighborhood.
Police issued an aggravated murder warrant for East on Nov. 22.
East was arrested at a residence near the 6800 block of Broadway Avenue, authorities said.
