Animals killed, wildlife center destroyed in Monday morning fire

WAYNE TWP, SCHUYLKILL CO, (WOLF) —
Multiple animals were killed as the result of a fire at a wildlife center in Schuylkill County on Monday.

Crews responded to the Red Creek Wildlife Center in Wayne Township around 8:15 AM for a reported fire.
Officials say black smoke and heavy fire coming from the building could be seen for miles.
Red Creek Wildlife Center released the following statement:
Red Creek Wildlife Center suffered a catastrophic fire at its main clinic facility this morning resulting in a loss of the main clinic building and all animals under temporary medical care. There were no human injuries. Resident animals not housed in the clinic were not harmed. The facility treats approximately 4,000 animals each year. The cause of the fire will be determined by proper authorities.
