A Boston woman accused of crashing a personal watercraft into a boat in Pelham over the summer is now facing potential prison time.
Investigators said Ivonne Peña, 31, was drunk and drove the watercraft into an anchored boat, injuring herself and her passenger.
Marine Patrol officers said the watercraft was going full throttle when it hit the stationary boat with four people on board on July 24 on Long Pond. Three of the four passengers on the boat were able to jump off moments before the impact, while the fourth person was able to duck below deck and avoid being hit.
After the crash, the boaters pulled the two women who were on the watercraft out of the water and applied a tourniquet to one of them, who was bleeding profusely.
New Hampshire Airman Amy Granfield was on the boat with her family when the watercraft struck them. She was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal in September by the adjutant general for her role in providing first aid to the women who were on the watercraft.
An arrest warrant for Peña was issued Oct. 6, more than two months after the crash, days after a toxicology report was filed that showed her blood alcohol level was 0.121, investigators said.
Peña was arrested last week in Massachusetts and pleaded not guilty to felony charges, according to a court filing. If convicted, she could be sentenced to 3½ to 7 years in prison and fined thousands of dollars.
