BELLEVILLE (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are investigating an apparent drug overdose after a man was pronounced dead in the parking lot of a Wayne County rest area on Monday morning.
The Van Buren Fire Department contacted MSP just before 6 a.m., calling troopers to the scene of an overdose at the Belleville Rest Area on eastbound I-94 near Rawsonville Rd.
Troopers arrived to find that a 34-year-old man from Wisconsin had died. A 36-year-old Ann Arbor woman was also onsite but did not require medical attention.
Officers spoke with the woman and interviewed other people who were in the rest area parking lot when the overdose occurred.
This case remains open pending reports from a medical examiner and evidence technicians.
