Residents urged to evacuate after unexploded military device found in Mt. Juliet

UPDATE: Mt. Juliet Police have given the all clear following an evacuation due to the discovery of a military ordnance.

Police said a military team arrived on the scene and confirmed the device was inactive. They then collected the item.

Mt. Juliet Police said the evacuation and road closures for the area involved has been lifted.

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Mt. Juliet Police Department is urging some residents to evacuate after an unexploded military device was found in the area.

Officials were dispatched a home on Belinda Parkway near Southeast Springdale Road to investigate a report an unexploded military ordnance that was found at the scene.

At this time, Belinda Parkway is closed near Southeast Springdale Road. Emergency responders are contacting individuals who need to evacuate from the area.

Officers said most of the evacuations are contained to a set of homes 317-331 of Belinda Parkway as they wait for military personnel to respond to the scene.

The device was discovered during an inspection of a property that is about to be remodeled.

Bomb specialists with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Fort Campbell have been called in to help assist with the device.

No other information was immediately released.
