Two Lenawee Christian football standouts earned Associated Press 8-man All-State honors as seniors Collin Davis and Brady McKelvey led the Cougars to another solid season.

Davis was named as a linebacker, bringing down 87 solo tackles and 68 assisted tackles. Among his tackles, 14 were for loss while he also proved to be a factor in pass defense with six breakups and forced four fumbles.

Not only was he a headache for opposing coaches on defense, but his 6-foot-2-inch, 210 pound frame was a lot to deal with as a receiver and ball carrier as well.

Davis hauled in 36 receptions for 794 yards and 12 touchdowns while also serving as the team's long snapper.

When Davis was snapping the ball, it also resulted in points most of the time as it ended up off the foot of McKelvey for field goals and extra points.

The fall dual-sport athlete McKelvey, who was captain on the LCS boys soccer team, converted on 62-of-63 extra points added two field goals and booted five touchbacks with an average of 46 yards per kickoff.

The Cougars went 8-3 on the season, falling to Martin in the Division 1 regional final.

Powers North Central quarterback Luke Gorzinski was named the AP 8-man Player of the Year while Martin's Brad Blauvelt was named AP 8-man Coach of the Year.

Gorzinski lead the Jets to their third-straight state championship as they currently hold the longest winning streak in MHSAA football at 37-straight wins.

Blauvelt led the Clippers to their first 8-man state championship as they beat Merrill, 74-24.

Martin made it to the semifinals in each of the previous two season, both times falling to LCS. The Clippers got some revenge on the Cougars in the regional final this season as they went on to win their title.
