SAN ANTONIO - A man was arrested Sunday after allegedly confessing to robbing several stores at gunpoint in an eight hour time span.
Nathan Diaz, 27, was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.
According to the arrest report, the first robbery took place just before 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 16 when Diaz walked into the Exxon gas station off Interstate 35 North and Eisenhauer Road. Diaz then pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money. Fearing for their safety, the employee handed over the money from the register and Diaz ran off.
Diaz was seen wearing a yellow vest with a blue circle similar to a construction vest during the robbery.
The next robbery happened around 9 a.m. at the Family Dollar off Eisenhauer Road and Midcrown Drive. As in the previous robbery, Diaz pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. After getting the money, he ran off.
Unbeknownst to him, two witnesses followed Diaz to a Circle K off Gibbs Sprawl, about a one and a half miles from the Family Dollar. The witnesses phoned police and then watched as Diaz was changing clothes when San Antonio Police officers showed up and took him into custody, according to the arrest report.
During questioning, Diaz confessed to not only the robbery at the Family Dollar, but also a third robbery during the same night, according to the arrest report. He told investigators that he never planned to hurt anyone.
During a search, officers found a yellow vest with a blue circle on the passenger seat along with a 9mm handgun with a red laser.
Diaz is being held in the Bexar County Jail on $100,000 bond.
