UPDATE (DEC. 6): The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified the motorcyclist killed as 34-year-old Mario Murillo Figueroa of Santa Maria.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a crash that killed a 34-year-old man near Arvin, Sunday afternoon.
Officials said on December 4th, 2022, at around 12:18 p.m., officers were called to a report of a crash between a motorcycle and a semi-truck at the intersection of Bear Mountain Boulevard and South Edison Road.
CHP said a 34-year-old man was riding his 2014 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Bear Mountain Boulevard, and was approaching stopped traffic near the intersection, while a 2021 Peterbilt semi-truck was making a left onto southbound South Edison Road.
For unknown reasons, the rider tried to pass the traffic on the left and crashed into the semi-truck.
The Kern County Fire Department responded and provided medical aid, but the rider died due to his injuries.
CHP said the use of alcohol or drugs is unknown at this time.
