The Brown County Court has ordered a psychiatric exam for a man accused of killing two of his relatives.
31-year-old Oscar Lemus-Franco is facing two counts of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, and Battery or Threat to a Judge, Prosecutor, or Law Enforcement Officer, each with the Use of a Dangerous Weapon, as well as Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
Lemus-Franco was arrested after the bodies of two men, Gerson Alvarez-Franco and Jamie Lemus, were found dead in an apartment in the 500 block of Clement Street on September 29th, 2020.
Lemus-Franco’s vehicle was quickly located, and he fled in said vehicle.
He ended up crashing near Dousman Street and North Broadway and began to flee on foot.
When he was caught, he allegedly stabbed an officer in the face.
Lemus-Franco has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, which led the court to order two psychiatric exams.
One to determine if he is able to determine right from wrong, and another to determine his level of competency.
A status conference was scheduled for March 6th, as Lemus-Franco remains in the County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
