ATLANTA — The Georgia gas price average continues to decline.

According to a report from the American Automobile Association (AAA), drivers are paying less at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $2.96 per gallon for regular gas.

“Pump prices have steadily decreased across Georgia over the past few weeks,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “Declining crude oil prices continue to be the single largest factor influencing gas prices, as well as the Governor’s executive order to extend the suspension of the state diesel and gas taxes through December 11th.”

Monday’s state average is eight cents less than a week ago, and drivers are now paying almost $3.00 less to fill-up at the pump compared to last month.

The national average drop is heading into the Christmas holiday. As demand stays low and stocks grow, drivers will likely continue to see gas prices go down this week.
