Head Coach David Brown’s lone senior ended her day by taking the court for some extra shooting practice after her girls’ basketball squad’s 60-35 victory over Paducah’s St. Mary Lady Vikings.

Lady Tigers avenge 2 earlier losses to Tilghman with superb performance
MURRAY—In what has to be its finest performance of the season, Murray High flattened a Paducah Tilghman team Saturday in girls’ basketball. The Lady Tigers avenged two earlier losses this season to the Lady Blue Tornado with a stunning 60-31 win at Taylor Gymnasium/Rechelle Turner Court. The win moved the Lady Tigers to 8-13 on the season, while Tilghman fell to 9-8.

Murray State wins 17th Ohio Valley Conference rifle championship
MARTIN, Tenn. — History was made Sunday at the Skyhawk Rifle Range in Martin, Tennessee, as the Murray State rifle team won its 17th Ohio Valley Conference title. In addition, head coach Alan Lollar became the school’s fourth-winningest coach by championships as he brought home his ninth trophy.

Kentucky Region 1 Swimming Championships; Murray High gets 3-peat
HOPKINSVILLE — Murray High’s mastery over Region 1 in swimming continued this past weekend. The smallest school by enrollment in the region, the Murray High girls’ and boys’ programs once again swept the team titles of the Kentucky Region 1 Swimming Championships at Hopkinsville High School. The Lady Tigers won their third straight region title by edging second-place McCracken County, while the boys notched their three-peat by easily outpacing host Hoptown.

Indiana State could do no wrong in blowout of Racer men
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. —On what was dubbed “Hall of Fame Day” for Indiana State, its men’s basketball team gave a Hall of Fame performance against visiting Murray State. Right down to wearing a replica of the light blue road uniforms used by the Sycamores’ 1979 team that was led by legend Larry Bird and came within one win of a national title with a perfect season, Indiana State literally bombed the Racers into submission. The Sycamores hit 19 3-pointers, 14 in the second half, in a dazzling display of shooting as they took a 99-56 win at the Hulman Center to avenge a nine-point loss two weeks earlier in Murray.

DUI leads to drug arrest
A Murray man was arrested Saturday for possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop. Calloway County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over Jonathan Drum, 40, of Murray, after observing him driving on South 12th Street in a manner which indicated the vehicle was being operated by an intoxicated subject. Drum failed the standardized field sobriety tests. Deputies located methamphetamine in the vehicle.
