Two people found dead in Springfield home ruled murder/suicide

12/6 UPDATE: After an investigation by the Springfield Police Department, two deaths in a Springfield home have been ruled a murder-suicide.

According to the Springfield Police Department, around 7:03 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, officers responded to a home on West Whiteside Street after receiving information that two people were inside with gunshot wounds. When officers got to the residence, they discovered a male and a female dead inside.

The Springfield Homicide Unit investigated the crime scene and determined Lavare W. D. Everett, 44, of Springfield, shot and killed Christina M. Lopez, 45, also from Springfield. Everett then died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Both families have been notified of the situation. This incident marks the 17th homicide investigation for 2022.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- The Springfield Police Department has opened an investigation after two people were found dead at home in Springfield, Missouri.

According to the Springfield Police Department, around 7:00 pm on Saturday, SPD responded to a home on West Whiteside to an individual attempting to check on the family.

Upon further investigation, two people were recovered dead in their residence.

Springfield Police Department says there is no danger to the public, and the investigation into the situation is ongoing.
