Family of 7 displaced, 1 dog dies in house fire, Marion County first responders say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A dog has died and a family of seven is displaced after a house fire Sunday, Marion County Fire Rescue officials said.

Firefighters said the fire was under control at 4:45 p.m., about 15 minutes after they responded to reports of a fire.

Multiple 911 callers said smoke and flames were coming from the house. The callers also said the family was not home, but three dogs were inside.

According to a release, fire rescue units received a call at about 4:30 p.m. to Southeast 140th Street in Summerfield.

Battalion Chief 3 was the first to arrive at the scene.

Once additional rescue engines arrived at the scene, they conducted a primary search and helped fight the fire.

Firefighters searched for the dogs and were able to save two of them.

Crews were able to get the fire under control at 4:45 p.m.

A family of three adults and four children is unable to return to their home. They lost all of their possessions, including baby shower gifts for one of the adult females.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

15 min for a mobile home is long time , house is gone by then . I wonder if ppl started using their own Hose to put it out? 2 dogs lived one didn’t was the one dog in a crate? In the others weren’t? Sad situation for the family in for the dog that passed away.
